Philip is the Editor of Focus.
Philip graduated in 2010 from Kingston School of Art with a First Class honours degree in photography. Since then, his career has been solidly within the industry - specifically in commercial photography, licensing and education, having held various roles at several London-based photographic companies.
In his current role at Picfair, he is the Editor of Focus - Picfair’s online photography knowledge hub, where he brings his 10+ years of photographic knowledge and industry experience to guide photographers in improving their practice, learning new skills, and building on their successes.
When it comes to his own photographic work, he is a keen outdoor photographer. Having recently relocated to Northumberland to take advantage of the many honeypot sites in the area, and is currently working on a long-term project 'Coastal North' documenting the shores of Northern England and Scotland.
Notable experience
- Years of experience in delivering the best images for editorial and commercial briefs, with a roster of notable clients from the BBC and Moonpig to Penguin Random House and VisitBritain
- Contributor to external articles and university lectures on image licensing
- Led workshops with local authorities encouraging young people to use photography as a medium of expression in their day-to-day lives
- Judge for Picfair's Urban Wildlife Awards and History Hit Historic Photographer of the Year competitions, 2022
Education
Philip holds a first-class BA(hons) in photography from Kingston School of Art, but many aspects of his photography work have also been self-taught. Particularly when it comes to perfecting technique and composition - which is an ongoing learning journey.
