When you create a Picfair Store, you can select a range of pre-built Picfair Themes to use for its design and layout.

‍

Each Picfair Theme has been developed in-house by our resident photography experts and is designed to make your store and images look spectacular and provide you with an ideal base for adding your own customisations.

Below, you’ll see instructions on applying a theme to your Picfair Store and also adding your own customisations to each Picfair Theme.

It’s really simple to set up the Theme for your Picfair Store, and can all be done from the Theme & Layout section of Your Store, accessed from your Dashboard. Here, you can select a Store Theme and make some changes to it once selected.

How to apply a Picfair Theme to your Picfair Store

1 - At the top of the Theme & Layout section of your Picfair Dashboard, you can select your Picfair Theme by selecting ‘Choose Theme’.

This option will bring up a carousel where you can choose the theme you wish to use for your Picfair Store. You can select one of the ‘Classic Themes’ (Light or Dark) or the other ‘Picfair Themes’, which are store Themes with specially-curated fonts and colours.‍

‍Note:
If you’re a new Picfair member and haven’t previously set up a theme or added your own customisations, your store will automatically be set with the Light Theme.

2 - Select 'Apply Theme' (bottom right in yellow) once you have chosen the Picfair Theme you want to use for your Picfair Store.

3 - Once you've selected 'Apply Theme'  you'll then see a tick in the bottom left corner indicating the theme has been applied.

Your Theme & Layout page will now display the Picfair Theme you have selected for your Picfair Store, where you can also choose to preview how your Picfair Store looks with that Theme applied.

Am I permanently bound to the Picfair Theme I choose for my store?

‍

No, you can change the Picfair Theme at any time by following the same instructions above. So, once you’ve selected your Picfair, you aren’t bound to it!

Just remember, changing your Picfair Theme will update all your settings to the design that comes as standard with that Theme.

Additional customizations for your selected Picfair Theme

‍

Once you’ve selected your Picfair Theme, you can add some of your own customizations should you want to.

Additional customizations include adding your logo to your Picfair Store and choosing how your images are arranged across your Picfair Theme. You also have the option to customise the header font, font size and font colour.

Adding your own customisations to your chosen Picfair Theme can be made from the same page as selecting your Store Theme: ‘Your Store’ > ‘Theme & Layout’.

You’ll see the option to choose whether to use your name or upload a logo for your Picfair Store  (learn more about logos for Picfair Stores with our dedicated guide), choose any font customisations by selecting 'Change Store Title design', and also choose the layout of how your images appear across your store, whether that’s rows, squares or full-screen view.

Editor’s tip:

We highly recommend experimenting with the various font options for the Light and Dark theme, as these have been designed as a base for full customization.

However, for the pre-built Picfair Themes, we recommend sticking with the assigned font and settings. These themes have had their fonts specifically chosen and designed to compliment the theme and photos within (we’ve done the hard work choosing the font styling, so you don’t have to worry about it)!

What if I’m currently using a custom theme I put together previously? Will that be deleted if I change to a different Picfair Theme?

‍

No, the customized theme you previously had for your Picfair Store will be saved, and you can select and go back to that option at any time.

You’ll see this displayed under ‘Classic Themes’ in the carousel. Please note, that you cannot change your legacy Custom Theme's colour customisations but you can still change any other customisation options as before. Read more in our detailed explainer guide.

Top tips for selecting your Picfair Theme:

1 Research. Each Store Theme has been designed with specific images and photography genres in mind. We highly recommend reading our Themes Guides and looking at our Preview Stores to get an idea of what type of images work well in each theme setting.

2 Experiment! Try out different themes, layouts and customisations over time and see what you prefer in the long run and what best suits your photography. For example, try one theme for a month and then switch to another theme for a month too. These will give each theme time to ‘settle’ with your photography and give you a good idea of whether you like it.

3 Seek feedback. Ask your friends, family and visitors what they think about how your store looks and the layout. Take their advice on board, and try it if you need to make changes.
